China-Africa: important results with FOCAC – AGP

Libreville, September 13, 2024 (AGP) – China-Africa cooperation has yielded significant results since the establishment of FOCAC in 2000, ZHOU PING, Chinese Ambassador to Gabon, said in Libreville on Friday, it was noted.

To justify his claim, the Chinese Ambassador indicated that his country is the largest investor in developing countries in Africa. For him, China has remained Africa’s largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years.

He illustrated this by noting that in 2023, China-Africa trade reached 282.1 billion dollars. Just as he recalled that China has accompanied Africa in the construction and modernization of nearly 100,000 kilometers of roads, more than 10,000 kilometers of railways, nearly 1,000 bridges and nearly 100 ports.

On the social front, the Chinese diplomat said that China has sent medical teams to almost all African countries. These teams, he said, have reached even the countryside and villages to provide care to the African population about 230 million times.

In the same vein, the Chinese diplomat indicated that in the last three years, Chinese companies have created more than 1.1 million local jobs, in addition to previous years.

China-Africa cooperation has already had 9 editions of FOCAC. There are a total of 9 editions of FOCAC, including Beijing, China (2000), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (2003), Beijing, China (2006), Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt (2009), 2012: Beijing, China (2012), Johannesburg, South Africa (2015), Beijing, China (2018), Dakar, Senegal (2021) and Beijing (2024).
