The Foreign Ministry has said that India is closely monitoring China’s construction of a second bridge over the Pangong Tico Lake.
Commenting on this, Union Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Baxi said, “Currently the area where construction is said to be taking place in China is considered to be occupied. This is a military issue, so I can not discuss its implications. We are monitoring. We are in talks with the Chinese side in this regard. ”
China is building a second bridge around Lake Pangong Tsho, bordering eastern Ladakh, which is said to help the Chinese military quickly mobilize its forces.
Satellite imagery shows that the bridge is being built as tensions between India and China have been building along the border in eastern Ladakh for more than two years.
Commenting on the issue on Twitter, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, “China is taking care of the situation when the central government builds the first bridge. The federal government is taking care of the situation even when China is building the second bridge.”
The security of the country and the security of the border are beyond compromise. Cowardice and submissiveness will not help. The Prime Minister must protect the country. ”
