BEIJING: Cases are on the rise again in China after the outbreak of the Kovid epidemic. Currently, more than 2020 cases are being reported daily. Yesterday, 16,412 cases were reported in China.

New cases have been reported in 27 provinces in China. According to Chinese media reports, this is the fastest-growing Omicron variant. With more cases coming in, the restrictions have been tightened again.

Kovid cases are currently rampant in Shanghai, China’s financial capital. Today the lockdown is being extended and Kovid is conducting tests on 26 million people. The second phase of lockdown in the country started on March 28.

Authorities, however, have not yet clarified when the strict restrictions will be lifted. On Monday, the city reported 8,581 asymptomatic Kovid-19 cases and 425 asymptomatic cases.

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has sent more than 2,000 health experts to Shanghai. The move comes after 38,000 health professionals were deployed in the city earlier.
