From January to July 2023, China delivered more than 405,000 passenger cars to Russia, which is 5.7 times more than in the same period last year. Such data are provided in the statistics of the General Administration of Customs (GCC) of the PRC, writes TASS.

According to Chinese customs, in value terms, deliveries increased by 7.5 times to $5.65 billion. Russia accounts for about 14% of Chinese exports, the country is now the leader in terms of purchases of passenger cars in China.

Beijing’s exports, according to the GTU, reached 153,200 cars worth $1.68 billion in 2022. The cost of deliveries increased by more than 3.8 times compared to 2019, and the figure tripled in terms of the number of vehicles.

Last fall, Chinese customs also talked about record deliveries of cars to Russia. According to the GTU, in October the import of cars rose to $560 million, which is 27% more than in January. The total volume of car imports from China in January-October 2022 amounted to $3.61 billion, which is 31% more than in the same period of the previous year, and already more than in the whole of 2021 ($3.45 billion). In 2019, imports were $1.7 billion, and in 2020 – $1.6 billion.
