A report by the police in the Shenzhen district where the school is located said they had arrested the alleged attacker, 44, whose surname was given as Zhong, who did not provide a motive for his action after initial questioning. The incident, which has mobilized the Tokyo government, is the second after a similar one in June, when a man attacked a bus used by a Japanese school in the city of Suzhou, causing the death of a Chinese citizen who had tried to protect a Japanese mother and child from the attacker.
