China launches Shenzhou-14 spacecraft carrying astronauts to orbital station

The launch vehicle “Changzheng-2F” with the ship “Shenzhou-14” was launched at the Jiuquan Cosmodrome, Xinhua reports. Three Chinese astronauts went to the orbital station.

The launch took place at 10:44 Beijing time (5:44 Moscow time). The crew includes crew commander Chen Dong, Cai Xuzhe and China’s first female astronaut Liu Yang.

The astronauts will spend six months on the orbital station. They will complete the construction of the basic three-module complex of the space station. The first rotation of crews in orbit is expected.
