The landing module of the Chinese interplanetary station Tianwen-1 has successfully landed on Mars, the National Space Administration of China reported, Xinhua reports.

The department noted that this is the first case of a successful landing of a Chinese vehicle on another planet.

Tianwen-1 was launched from the Wenchang cosmodrome in July 2020, and for the last two months the device has been choosing the most successful landing site.

China, among others, congratulated on a successful landing and the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin.

“The successful landing of China’s spacecraft on the surface of Mars is a great success of the PRC’s fundamental space research program,” he wrote in Telegram, adding that the Russian-European ExoMars mission will be sent to Mars next year.

Earlier, the Chinese Corporation of Aerospace Science and Technology noted that in order to successfully complete the tasks after the arrival of the module to Mars, it is necessary to conduct a study of the relief in the landing area and study the meteorological conditions in the flight corridor.
