Astronauts conduct research and experiments on China’s space station. Now a new crew is on the move. The People’s Republic has set itself high goals for the space race.

China is sending a new crew into space for its space research to the space station “Tiangong” (Sky Palace). The commander Cai said. During its six-month stay, the team will carry out experiments, undertake space walks and install protective devices against space debris.

Wang Haoze is the third woman to fly into space for the People’s Republic. She is currently China’s only female space engineer, according to the official Xinhua news agency. Liu Yang and Wang Yaping were already part of the crew of previous “Shenzhou” missions and last flew into space in 2022. The “Shenzhou-19” replaces the astronauts of the “Shenzhou 18” mission who are currently living on the “Tiangong” and who left there at the end of April. The three men are then scheduled to arrive back on Earth on November 4th.

As the space agency also announced, China is planning two more “Shenzhou” missions and the “Tianzhou 9” supply mission for the coming year. Beijing has long been investing heavily in its space program. China wants to have completed a manned lunar mission by 2030. This year, scientists also succeeded, for the first time in human history, in transporting soil samples from the hard-to-reach far side of the moon to Earth.
