Beijing Working Towards Peace in the Middle East, Says China’s Middle East Special Envoy

Beijing is willing to do “whatever is conducive” to promote dialogue, achieve a ceasefire, and restore peace in the Middle East, according to China’s Middle East special envoy, Zhai Jun. Zhai’s comments were reported by China’s Central Television on Monday in response to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Zhai Jun described the situation in Gaza as “very serious” and expressed concerns over the possibility of a large-scale ground conflict and armed conflicts spreading to neighboring countries. He emphasized the need for urgent action to address the escalating violence and prevent further instability in the region.

China has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to mitigate the crisis. Zhai stated that China will continue to maintain close communication with all parties in the international community. As evidence of this commitment, he recently attended the Cairo peace summit and held discussions with foreign ministers from Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Norway, as well as representatives from the United Nations and the European Union.

Furthermore, Zhai Jun announced that China has provided and will continue to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Palestinians. These efforts will be channeled through the United Nations and through bilateral channels to help alleviate the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.

China’s involvement in the Middle East conflict showcases its commitment to maintaining peace and stability globally. As a major player in international politics, Beijing’s efforts will surely contribute to the international community’s collective goal of achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
