Consumer prices (CPI) in China rose in June by the lowest since March, 0.2% year-on-year.

As reported by Day.Az with reference to Interfax, this is stated in the report of the State Statistical Office (SSO).

Analysts on average had forecast a 0.4% rise, according to Trading Economics.

Inflation was recorded for the fifth month in a row, although it slowed compared to 0.3% in May.

Non-food products increased in price by 0.8% last month, including clothing by 1.5%. The cost of medical services increased by 1.5%, education by 1.7%. Housing increased in price by 0.2%. Transportation services fell in price by 0.3%.

Food prices fell 2.1%, the twelfth consecutive month of decline.

Consumer prices excluding food and energy rose 0.6% year-on-year last month, the same as in May.

The CPI index fell by 0.2% in June compared to the previous month, after falling by 0.1% in May.

Meanwhile, producer prices (PPI) in China in June fell by the lowest since January 2023 – 0.8% compared to the same month a year earlier (in May they fell by 1.4%), the GSU reported. The indicator has fallen for the 21st month in a row.

The PPI index fell by 0.2% in June compared to the previous month.

In January-June, compared to the same period in 2023, the indicator decreased by 2.1%.
