China’s LandSpace Technology Prepares for Major Satellite Launch

China’s LandSpace Technology is gearing up for a major satellite launch using its innovative methane and liquid oxygen-powered rocket, the Zhuque-2. The rocket launch is set to demonstrate a key commercial test to ensure low cost and stability, and anticipation for the launch has been building since the Juk-2 carrier rocket was recently moved to a launch pad in the vast expanse of the Gobi desert.

Named Y-3, the project is part of a test launch aimed at verifying the rocket’s capabilities. Although the company has been tight-lipped about the launch window at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Inner Mongolia, the industry is watching closely.

LandSpace has three test launches planned, with Y-1 and Y-2 already completed and Y-3 currently underway. The world’s first methane-liquid oxygen rocket has made a historic achievement, putting China’s technology ahead of global rivals like SpaceX and Blue Origin.

However, the Y-1 trial faced challenges last year, the details of which were not fully disclosed by the company. Despite this, LandSpace has ambitious plans to scale up its operations. After the successful verification of Zhuque-2, the company intends to launch approximately three missiles in 2024, with plans to double that number by 2025.

The launch of the Zhuque-2 rocket is highly anticipated, as it represents a significant milestone for China’s space technology. With the potential for low-cost, stable satellite launches, LandSpace Technology’s innovative approach has the potential to revolutionize the industry. The eyes of the world are now on the Gobi desert as the countdown to the launch begins.
