With the resumption of tax collection for electric and hybrid cars in Brazil, the arrival of new electrified Chinese models has caught the attention of the automobile market. Companies such as Great Wall Motors (GWM), BYD and JAC Motors have announced the arrival of several electric vehicles in the country in the coming years.

A Great Wall Motors, for example, has already confirmed that it will produce a pickup truck and an SUV as soon as its assembly line in Iracemápolis (SP) starts operating, in the first quarter of 2024. In addition, Exeed is also preparing three new models for the national market. And we can’t forget BYD, which promises to bring the cheapest electric car in Brazil.

One of the highlights is the BYD Seagull, a subcompact that will arrive in Brazil costing less than the Dolphin, with an estimated price of between R$110,000 and R$130,000. The expectation is that it will be more affordable than models such as the Caoa Chery iCar and the JAC E-JS1, making it an interesting option for those looking for an economical electric vehicle.

Another awaited model is the GWM Poer, a pickup truck that promises to be a direct competitor to the Toyota Hilux. GWM has already shown its strength in the Brazilian market with the Haval H6, a rival to the Corolla Cross, and now it also intends to conquer the pickup truck segment. Rumors indicate that Poer could be the first flex hybrid pickup truck in Brazil, innovating in the national market.

JAC Motors, in turn, is about to launch the Yiwei 3, an electric vehicle with an estimated price of R$150,000. With a size similar to the Chevrolet Onix, the model will have two engine options: one with 95 hp and the other with 136 hp. The expectation is that it will be another competitive option in the electric vehicle segment.

GWM announced, together with Poer, that it will have a new SUV in Brazil. It will be a hybrid and will share the same platform and engine with the mid-size pickup. The name of the mysterious model has not yet been revealed, but given the size, construction and engine indicated, it should be a GWM Tank. This division has three models: Tank 300, Tank 500 and the new Tank 400. The expectation is that the latter will arrive here.

Exeed also has news for Brazilian consumers. In addition to the aforementioned RX, a plug-in hybrid with a 261 hp 2.0 turbo engine, the automaker will launch the E03 sedan and the E0Y SUV. Although we do not yet have technical information about these models, they are expected to be interesting options for those looking for comfort and technology.

Finally, BYD will bring the Song Pro, an SUV that should arrive as a more affordable option to the Plus version, which currently starts at R$269,990. The Song Pro will have a more coupe-style body and an engine with a total power of 197 hp.

With the arrival of these new models, the electric car market in Brazil promises to become increasingly heated. Consumers will have a variety of Chinese options available that combine technology, sustainability and competitive prices. Now all that’s left to do is wait for the launches and take a closer look at what’s new to come.
