As the final event of the series of initiatives related to the celebration of the Chinese New Year and in connection with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bulgaria, Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas and Veliko Tarnovo are hosting the Chinese Cinema Week, reported Radio China.
In the period between February 23 and 29 of this year The Chinese Cinema Week was realized with the assistance of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sofia, together with China Lion Films from the Chinese side and Pro Films from the Bulgarian side.
For seven days, Chinese film lovers and friends of China, as well as all those who want to get to know Chinese film art, have the opportunity to enjoy three of the latest contemporary Chinese films, including “Apocalypse on the Mountain” (2021 .), “Death Zone” (2023) and “The Triumph” (2023).
The films are screened simultaneously in 11 cinemas in 5 of the largest Bulgarian cities, including Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo and Burgas.
The event is the conclusion and apotheosis of the series of initiatives under the motto “Happy Chinese New Year” 2024, as well as the first attempt to present Chinese films on a market basis in Bulgarian cinemas.
The three films tell about ordinary characters – people from different backgrounds and their stories, in which the ideas of a national cause, strong family ties and feelings, and warmth and cohesion in relationships are intertwined.
