Chinese companies purchased more than 195,000 cubic meters of lumber at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange as a result of stock exchange trading in January-July 2023, the press service of the exchange reported. This is as much as 2.5 times more than in the same period last year.
28% of the total volume was realized through the mechanism of address agreements, which was introduced on the stock exchange in June with the aim of increasing the attractiveness of stock trading for foreign participants.
“Suppliers from many countries are competing for access to the capacious and paying Chinese market, the price often plays a decisive role, especially against the background of weak demand from the main consumers – enterprises in the construction industry.
Therefore, in order to strengthen their position in China, Belarusian sellers became more willing to make concessions to buyers, to offer more convenient terms of delivery and payment,” said the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange.
