In a show of friendship and cultural cooperation, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China announced today the donation of 1,000 books to the National Library of El Salvador (Binaes) on the occasion of World Reading Day, which is commemorated every April 23.

The announcement was made by the Chinese ambassador to the country, Zhang Yanhui, during a seminar dedicated to promoting interconnection between peoples and the exchange of opinions between Asian diplomats and Salvadoran officials.

“I have found several Salvadoran friends who are very interested in works of classical literature such as the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I was very surprised that they have a deep knowledge and unique insight into these books. April 23 is World Reading Day, we are going to donate more than 1,000 Chinese books to Binaes,” said the diplomat.

Furthermore, the Chinese ambassador emphasized that the Salvadoran Government is considered a reliable partner and that relations between both countries have been strengthened, generating mutual benefits. Likewise, he pointed out that one of the main objectives is to continue promoting cultural exchange and strengthening ties of friendship between China and El Salvador.

The donation of these books will not only enrich the cultural heritage of the National Library, but will also promote the exchange of knowledge and mutual understanding between both countries, further consolidating the ties of cooperation and friendship between China and El Salvador.
