But Elon Musk would not accept it if he wanted to make Tesla cars in China and sell them in India. Thus he spoke.Cars imported into India are taxed at 60 – 100 per cent, depending on their value. Tesla has demanded that the federal government impose a fixed tax of Rs 40 lakh on electric cars.

It also demanded the removal of the 10 per cent tax levied on social welfare schemes. Following this, Tesla has put off plans to make a car in India.
