Cho Kuk, leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, said on the 9th, “The values of democracy I pursue and everything starts from Gwangju.”
On the last day of the election campaign, Representative Cho Kuk held a press conference in front of the Chungjang-ro Post Office in Dong-gu, Gwangju, and said, “If you think about the starting point that led to democratization in our country, everyone will think of Gwangju and Jeonnam.”
This is Representative Cho’s fourth visit to Gwangju this year. After visiting the National May 18th Democratic Cemetery on February 14th, Chungjang-ro on March 14th, and Pungam Lake Park on March 30th, I visited Gwangju again on this day.
He emphasized, “The political consciousness of Gwangju citizens is the highest among all of our country,” and “I believe that in the history of the Republic of Korea, the choice of Gwangju has always been the starting point of political change.”
Regarding the so-called ‘New Party of the Cho Kuk’ craze, he said, “I believe that over the past two years, the people have been filled with anger at the incompetence, recklessness, and irresponsibility of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, and have strengthened their determination to judge them with votes in the general election.” “I think the Innovation Party has appeared and is providing a lot of help,” he analyzed.
He said the target seats for the general election remain unchanged.
Representative Cho Kuk said, “Since the declaration of founding the party on February 13, we have never changed our target seats. “10 seats plus alpha,” he dismissed, adding, “It is true that several opinion polls have shown results that are better than the target, but we have no intention of officially increasing the target number of seats.”
Regarding his relationship with the Democratic Party after entering the National Assembly, he said bluntly, “There is no unity.”
He said, “Our policies have more progressive and reformative aspects than the Democratic Party’s, such as prosecution reform, reform of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, science and technology, labor, and welfare policies, and climate issues.” “I told you it was difficult,” he said.
However, “We cannot pass the bill on our own. “In order to achieve the goals of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, we must cooperate with the Democratic Party,” he said. “There are many common areas to discuss with the Democratic Party.” He explained, “If there is a bill that the Democratic Party wants to pursue or pass, if there is one member of the Fatherland Innovation Party in the Agenda Coordination Committee, it will be done much more quickly, so we believe it is good for both parties.”
Lastly, Representative Cho Kuk appealed for support, saying, “April 10 is the day to judge the Yoon Seok-yeol regime, and in other words, it is the day we become judges of the Yoon Seok-yeol regime,” and added, “I will visit Gwangju again after winning the general election.”
After finishing his schedule in Gwangju, Representative Cho plans to go to Seoul and conduct his final campaign for the general election in Seoul.
