Album ‘20’ containing 7 songs released for the first time in 11 years
“I want to tell losers to cheer up.”

“What do you think? Is it not that good? haha.”

Press conference commemorating the release of the album ’20’ held at Blue Square in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 22nd. ‘King of Singer’ Cho Yong-pil (74, photo) appeared with both hands raised and said this. He jokingly asked about his thoughts on the song released just before the meeting. He, who has released numerous hit songs, also seemed nervous about releasing a new song, saying, “I’m already over 70, so it’s difficult to release a new song,” and “I’d rather be happy at a concert.”

’20’, released on this day, is his first full-length album 11 years after ‘Hello’ in 2013. Regarding the reason for the somewhat delayed release of the album, he said, “It has to be to my liking. After making it, when I looked at the score again the next day, I thought, ‘Wow!’ and ended up making a different song. “There were hundreds of songs like that,” he said. He also said, “I have never released a song just because it was perfect. “Even now, I feel pathetic when I listen to music,” he said, adding, “Even though people around me thought this would be enough, there were times when I got angry inside.” He also revealed that he has perfectionist tendencies.

The new album contains a total of 7 songs. Three new songs were added to the four songs included in the singles released consecutively in 2022 and 2023. The new songs have a wide range of genres, such as rock (‘That’s ok’), electronic (‘Timing’), and ballad (‘Why’). In particular, the title song ‘That’s Okay’ is impressive with lyrics that support someone, such as “Believe in yourself, believe in yourself.” Cho Yong-pil said, “I was watching a sports game on TV, and the camera didn’t show the loser at all, but only the winner. I thought about how the loser felt, and I wanted to convey the message, ‘You may be upset and disappointed, but be strong.’”
