Choking Thana Street… Suffering Purasaivakam… – The Chennai Corporation and Police Department are oblivious | traffic jam and road side shop in purasawalkam

by time news

Chennai: Chennai-Purasaivakkam traffic jams during the festive season. In particular, encroachments and shops on the roadsides make it impossible for people to walk on Thana Street.

T. Nagar is the main business area of Chennai. It is located in Purasaivakkam, Vannarappat, etc. These areas are crowded during the festive season. Especially in the evenings, these areas are crowded. However, various facilities have been made in the city to regularize the meeting and for the convenience of the public. In particular, facilities such as parking facilities, guards on security duty, fire engines on standby have been made for the convenience of the public in the city.

But against this, Purasaivakam is stuck with no basic facilities, traffic jams and encroachments. In particular, Purasaivakam is in a congested state with no way for the public to walk and even for occasional vehicles.

Thana Street in Buraiwak is a street full of shops. There are various shops in this street where you can buy all your household items. The roadside shops occupying the road in front of these shops cause heavy traffic in the morning and evening. In particular, traffic jams are caused by drug stores and flower shops set up on the side of the road.

Many new temporary shops also occupy Thana Street during the festive season. Due to this, vehicles have to crawl. Shoppers park their vehicles on the side of the road. Due to this, the transfer vehicles cannot move smoothly.

The next major problem is traffic congestion. Not only during the festive season but also on normal days, the busy traffic is stuck in a snarl. Vehicles line up on the Purasaivakkam flyover and its lower sections in the evenings. Heavy traffic jams occur when vehicles turn from the Purasaivakkam highway to the road leading to Thana Street. Due to this, emergency vehicles including ambulances are unable to move fast.

Although the number of shops in Purasaivakam is increasing day by day, no basic facilities have been provided by the corporation here. Various parking facilities have been made by the Corporation to park public vehicles in the city. But there is no such facility in Purasaivakam. Also, toilet facilities are not provided to the public. Since most of the shops in D. Nagar are big shops, there are basic facilities inside the shops. But most of the shops in Purasaivak are small shops so these shops do not have such facilities.

Although there is heavy traffic in Purasaivakkam areas during the festive season, many times the traffic police are not on duty at this place. Due to this, the vehicles do not move properly. Also, vehicles are lined up on the flyover and underpass.

Therefore, the public has demanded that the Chennai Corporation should provide necessary parking and basic facilities for the public in Purasaivakam, and the police department should do the work of improving the traffic and regularizing the roadside shops.
