Chong Kun Dang Holdings will hold an art gallery at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Jongno-gu, Seoul from the 27th of this month to the 6th of next month.(1·2 hall)On the 26th, it was announced that the ‘2nd Chong Kun Dang Art Award Selected Artists Exhibition’ will be held. The Chong Kun Dang Art Award Selected Artists Exhibition was planned as a place to vividly convey the creative activities of new painters who have been recognized for their potential and share painterly values with fellow painters.
This special exhibition, themed ‘Time when painting and life dance’, is said to have been prepared to highlight the changes in the works of artists selected for the Chong Kun Dang Art Award and recent painting trends. This year’s exhibition will present 81 new works by 15 artists selected for the Chong Kun Dang Art Award from 2017 to 2021. There will also be a special exhibition showcasing recent works by 15 artists selected from 2012 to 2016 and 9 artists selected from 2022 to this year.
In addition, an archive zone was set up to display interview videos, catalogs, and personal publications of artists selected for the Chong Kun Dang Art Award over the past 13 years, allowing artists and visitors to communicate.
An official from Chong Kun Dang Holdings said, “This exhibition is a special exhibition that brings together the works of 39 artists selected for the Chong Kun Dang Art Award, which is very meaningful,” and added, “We expect this to be a great opportunity to share the world of art with past selected artists and build a network.” He added, “We will continue to provide opportunities for contemporary artists to take a leap forward through our continued support of the selected artists.”
Following the exhibition of selected artists from the past, the 11th Chong Kun Dang Art Award Special Exhibition will be held from the 10th to the 21st of next month at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Museum 1, showcasing works created over the past three years by the three artists selected for 2022: Park Si-wol, Oh Se-kyung, and Choi Su-jeong. On October 12th, during the exhibition period, an academic discussion on the topic of the ‘2024 Chong Kun Dang Art Award Colloquium’ will be held at the Sejong Art Museum Open Gallery. Artists selected from the past Chong Kun Dang Art Award and painters will gather to discuss the world of the three artists who are the main characters of the exhibition and the flow of modern painting.
Meanwhile, Chong Kun Dang Holdings has been selecting three new artists every year through the Chong Kun Dang Art Award since 2012. A total of 39 artists have been supported as of this year. The selected artists are provided with a creative support fund of 10 million won per year for three years and are given the opportunity to hold a special exhibition in the last year of support.
