“It is regrettable that they forced the schedule to the 19th… and made a unilateral announcement.”
“It is not the National Assembly Act or practice to accept the unilateral demands of the opposition party.”

People Power Party floor leader Choo Kyung-ho expressed his opposition to the decision to hold a plenary session on the 19th.

Floor leader Choo held a press conference at the National Assembly that afternoon and claimed, “I understand that the schedule for the plenary session on the 19th was unilaterally decided and announced by the Speaker of the National Assembly without any agreement between the ruling and opposition parties,” and “We cannot cooperate with the agenda.”

Floor leader Choo said, “The schedule for processing the bill was confirmed on the 26th,” and added, “I strongly appealed to the people asking why they were forcibly setting the schedule for processing the bill to the 19th without an agreement, but I am very sorry that they made a unilateral announcement.”

Floor leader Choo Mi-ae countered, “The September schedule and the state audit schedule were already announced publicly to the press by the National Assembly Speaker and the floor leaders of the ruling and opposition parties,” adding, “After completing the Q&A session with the government in September and going through the standing committee’s review of the bill, we agreed on the schedule for passage on the 26th.”

He predicted, “The Democratic Party of Korea strongly requested and pressured us to add more time to the agenda so that the three bills (special prosecutors Kim Kun-hee and Chae Sang-byung, regional currency law, etc.) could be brought up quickly, and they strongly requested that we hold a plenary session on the 12th. However, it seems that the Speaker of the National Assembly, after much deliberation, decided on the plenary session schedule for the 19th.”

He continued, “It is against the National Assembly Act or custom to unilaterally accept such a schedule just because the opposition party unilaterally requested it (to hold a plenary session). I cannot agree to it.”

However, floor leader Choo responded to the question of whether he would not attend the plenary session on the 19th by saying, “I will talk about it after the general meeting of members on the 19th.”
