ChopA&ChipA Dance Competition Promotes Health and Fitness Among Thai Children

Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand – In an effort to combat obesity and promote a healthy lifestyle among Thai children, the Kamphaeng Phet Hospital organized the ChopA&ChipA dance competition. The event, held at Robinson Lifestyle Kamphaeng Phet, aimed to bring fun to the ChoPA&ChiPA Game project and increase awareness about the importance of physical activities.

Dr. Surachai Kaewhiran, Director of Kamphaeng Phet Hospital, chaired the opening ceremony of the dance competition, which saw participation from Kamphaeng Phet Hospital network staff, teachers, and students. The project was initiated after the Kamphaeng Phet Hospital Primary Service Mission Group identified a growing trend of obesity and short stature among Thai school-age children.

Various factors, such as sedentary behavior, addiction to games and smartphones, and unhealthy eating habits, contribute to this issue. The consequences of these habits include obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease in adulthood. To address this concern and create awareness among students, the hospital organized physical activities and provided schools with options to reduce study time and increase learning time.

“The objective of this initiative is to encourage school-age children to lead a healthy lifestyle and achieve proper height and proportion,” said Dr. Surachai. “By organizing the ChoPA&ChiPA dance competition, we aim to make physical activities enjoyable and educational for Thai children.”

During the event, attendees were treated to a performance of the traditional Chakangrao dance by Luknam Walaiphan. Additionally, students from Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University showcased their cover dance skills. The judges declared Wat Ku Yang School as the winner of the competition, with Ban Thung Setthi School securing the first runner-up position and Nong Bua Rat Bamrung School as the second runner-up.

The ChopA&ChipA dance competition not only provided a platform for children to showcase their talent but also emphasized the importance of physical fitness. With its success, Kamphaeng Phet Hospital hopes to continue organizing such events in the future to create a healthier and taller generation of Thai children.

This initiative highlights the dedication of Kamphaeng Phet Hospital and its partners in addressing the pressing issue of childhood obesity, aiming to create a positive impact on the overall health and well-being of Thai children.]
