Religious persecution of Christians is a harsh reality that affects millions of followers of Jesus Christ around the world, something that Chinese pastor Bob Fu understands very well, as he himself faced prison as one of the persecuted.

Founder of the religious watchdog organization ChinaAid, Pastor Fu has closely followed numerous cases of persecution in communist China and in other countries, such as North Korea, where the dictatorship also claims Christian victims.

During his participation in a segment on CBN News, the pastor demanded action from Christians, saying that they cannot remain “arms crossed” while there are millions of brothers and sisters suffering intolerance, including severe punishments such as torture, imprisonment and death.

“That is the main concern and motivation to serve the Lord because when one part of the body suffers, the whole body suffers and no matter where they are,” he said, citing the examples of “China, Iran, North Korea, Nigeria” , where Christians in these countries “are a part of the same body of Christ, the same church”.

Words of Christ

According to Pastor Fu, the Church must mobilize in prayer for the persecuted, in fact, but also for the persecutors, so that they have the chance to recognize their mistakes and turn to God.

“Pray for the persecutors, for their repentance and forgiveness and for their salvation, for President Xi Jinping too, despite his relentless persecution”, teaches the pastor when remembering the words of Jesus.

But even if the persecutors remain relentless, the Church of Christ will continue to advance, as it has in China, in part precisely because intolerance reveals the true nature of the Christian message.

“This persecution will prove to be futile and doomed,” concludes the pastor. “God’s church will never be destroyed and God’s people will never be brought down simply by physically chaining them. Their souls and their prayers will never be interrupted, even in prison cells.”
