Christine Jaulmes at the head of UNICEF Madagascar

UNICEF Madagascar has a new boss. The new UNICEF Representative in Madagascar, Christine Jaulmes, presented her credentials yesterday to the Head of Malagasy Diplomacy, Yvette Sylla, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This ceremony marks his official assumption of office in the country.

Through this meeting, Christine Jaulmes renews UNICEF’s commitment to supporting the Malagasy government in promoting the rights of every child in the country and improving the lives of the most vulnerable. The new representative notably highlighted the issues of climate change which significantly impact the well-being of the country’s children as well as the importance of protecting and educating young girls.

Before her arrival in Madagascar, Christine Jaulmes was the UNICEF representative for the Kyrgyzstan office for a little over four years. She was also UNICEF representative in Guinea-Bissau from September 2016 to June 2019. Christine Jaulmes has more than 22 years of experience at UNICEF, having joined the organization in July 2001 in Chad where she assumed the position of communications manager for the office based in N’Djamena.

In 2004, she became head of the communications section at the UNICEF Nigeria office as well as in Bangladesh, in February 2008, to provide technical expertise for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of an advocacy and communication strategy. Before joining UNICEF, she worked in communications as public relations manager within the Federation of Associations and Movements for Social Integration (FAMIS) in France.
