The Consumer Institute provided information about the Christmas table and the price of the products.
The celebratory meal is 10% more expensive than last year, as dinner for four is expected to cost 156 this year, up from 146 euros and 55 cents last year.
Christmas table: Price of meat and vegetables
Most of all, the family budget burdens the meat, and the price will reach 60 euros for a table of four.
“Pork and poultry prices are the same as last year. Beef has increased by 10 to 20%, lamb prices change every day,” said the president of the pan-Hellenic butchers’ association, Savvas Kesidis, according to Mega.
The price of vegetables is high and they put “fire” on the Christmas table.
According to market research shown on Mega, today’s vegetable staple costs:
- Tomatoes €2.90/kg
- Cucumbers € 0.70 / pc
- Onions Bun fresh €0.70/ball
- Cabbage €1.50/kg
- Carrots €2/kg
- Potatoes €1.25/kg
Prices for lamb, honey macaroni, feta cheese, stuffed turkey:
- Lamb/goat: in 2024 it cost €14/kg, and in 2023 it was €13/kg.
- Melomacarona and curabiedes: in 2024 it cost €17/kg, and in 2023 it was €16/kg.
- 8 soft drinks: in 2024 they cost €7.60, and in 2023 they were €7.
- Feta/graviera: in 2024 it cost €15.5, and in 2023 it was €15.5.
- Turkey filling: in 2024 it cost €13, and in 2023 it was €12.
