Christos (Titus) Komnenos died today, October 30, 2024, at the age of 81 years. Christos Komnenos was recognized as an innovative and pioneering person in the world of business, with a long professional career, and above all, for his ethics, his character and his sportsmanship.

Christos Komnenos was born in Istanbul in 1943. In 1971 he graduated in Chemical Engineering (MSc) from Istanbul Technical University (İTU). He began his long and successful professional career in 1972 at Coca Cola 3E, in Greece, where he held various positions until 1987. From 1987 to 1990 he was managing director of Coca Cola Bottlers Ireland (a subsidiary of 3E). In 1990 he returned to Greece and in 1995 took on the duties of managing director of the Greek company, a position he held until 2000.

From 2000 to 2004 he was president and managing director of PAPASTRATOS AVES. After receiving PHILIP MORRIS SA PAPASTRATOS, he voluntarily participated in the “Organizing Committee of the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games” as “Head of the Organization of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies”.

From 2005 to February 2010 he held the position of executive vice president of SHELMAN SA and ELMAR SA.

From December 2011 to February 2014, he held the position of chairman of the Board of Directors of Hellenic Petroleum SA (ELPE).

In addition, he served as vice-chairman of the Board of Directors and a member of the Executive Committee of the Business and Industry Association (SEB), a member of the Board of Directors of FINANSBANK (Turkey), ANADOLU EFES (Turkey) as well . as HALCOR SA (BIOOHALCO GROUP) and the Plastics Thrace Group, where he continued to fulfill his duties with ethics and consistency until the last moment of his life.

Christos Komninos was a fan of sports and especially basketball, being a veteran player and a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish team ANADOLU EFES. An internationally recognized figure in the field of basketball, Christos Komninos has, in recent years, been a member of FIBA‘s financial committees, although he has always been a loyal fan of the National Basketball Team.

He was married and had two daughters.
