Christos Volikakis: “Injustice is a great sin” – What does he say about the positive…

by time news

In an indirect but clear way he wanted to answer the Greek champion in cycling, Christos Volikakis, to the news that the sample he had given when he competed in the Rio Olympics in 2016 tested positive for the use of a banned substance.

In a new post on Instagram, the cyclist shared with his followers a quote attributed to the elder Paisios. “Unrighteousness is a great sin. All sins have extenuating circumstances, unrighteousness does not—it incurs the wrath of God. Awesome!” writes on the photo posted by Volikakis.

In his first reaction after the news broke, Volikakis reposted a photo with a quote on his Instagram story, which read: “My grandfather used to say: When they see they can’t reach you, let alone surpass you, they’ll try to reduce you. That’s called envy.”

In a statement, the lawyer of the Greek cyclist states that Volikakis “declares complete ignorance” and “will take legal action for his vindication, because it is questionable how after 8 years all this is happening”.

Forbidden substance

It all started when the World Cycling Federation (UCI) announced that the Greek world champion tested positive for the use of a prohibited substance, during the new analysis of a sample given by him on August 16, 2016, during the Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

In particular, it is the substance LGD-4033, which accelerates the increase in muscle mass and increases strength in a short period of time. 8 years may have passed, however the samples are stored for 10 years maintaining the same legal consequence in case of re-analysis.

“Greek rider Christos Volikakis has been notified of an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) for Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs) of the metabolite LGD-4033 (1) by the International Testing Agency (ITA) on behalf of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)”the organization’s announcement states.

The Greek cycling world champion, who recently participated in the reality show Survivor, has the right to request the analysis of his second sample.
