Church is mourning the death of its pastor and his wife in an accident

NOTICIACRISTIANA.COM.- The community of Piperton, Tennessee, is mourning the a tragic loss of the senior pastor on the Kirk Baptist ChurchBobby Mullins, and his wife, Wanda.

Both died in a car accident last Tuesday. The accident happened as they were returning home after Wanda’s work shift at DeSoto Baptist Hospital.

“Kirk Baptist Church family, we want to share with you that our pastor, Bobby Mullins, and his wife, Wanda Mullins, have entered the gates of Heaven,” the church announced on social media. “Keep praying for the Mullins family.”

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ridgeway Baptist Church, and the couple will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Regarding the accidenthis car was reportedly hit by another vehicle, causing it to leave the road and overturn several times. Pastor Mullins died on impact, and Wanda fought for her life until she succumbed to her injuries Thursday afternoon.

Local police have not released further details about the crash, citing the open investigation.

About the couple

The Mullins were married for more than four decades. They are survived by their three children, Brandon, Melody and Mallory, and four grandchildren.

“We miss them in the world, but they were great fathers and they inspired faith in us. That’s what’s sustaining us right now,” said his son Brandon.

A week before the accident, Pastor Mullins shared a sermon titled “Live As If You were Dying” on Facebook. The post has since attracted over 73,000 views.

“What if you only had a month to live? “How would you make sense of every day?” asked Mullins in his post. “How would you relate to others differently? What would you do to make sense of your life?”

Mullins held various ministerial positions for more than 40 years in nine different churches. He founded the non-profit organization Back to the Basics Ministries. And also the Christian TV show “A Fresh Start,” which airs in Knoxville.

Wanda played the piano and keyboard for years in the churches where Pastor Mullins attended, according to The Baptist Paper.

The community and the church family shared their tributes and memories. Reflecting on the couple’s lasting influence and the spiritual guidance they provided.
