“From Head to Cape” Transports Audiences to a Phantasmagorical World of Childhood Imagination
Table of Contents
A new dance performance, “From Head to Cape,” promises to dissolve the boundaries of reality and imagination, offering a unique theatrical experience for audiences as young as five. The production, a dazzling duet exploring themes of metamorphosis and identity, will be staged at the Great Hall of the Theater in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
A Journey into the Realm of Play
“From Head to Cape” plunges viewers into a phantasmagorical world inspired by childhood, where the rules of convention are suspended. The performance centers on two dancers who engage in a playful game of transformation, adopting the personas of mythical characters drawn from tales and dreams. According to a company release, the production aims to liberate performers and audiences alike from societal constraints, allowing for the exploration of hybrid beings and unconventional movement.
The show’s aesthetic is described as both “abundant and disturbing,” suggesting a complex and thought-provoking experience. Costumes play a central role, featuring “unforeseen and almost surreal associations” – envision a princess adorned with a frog’s head or a Superman sporting bear’s paws. This playful subversion of expectations is a key element of the performance’s artistic vision.
