Ciencia and the UIMP launch the ‘VII Edition of the Blas Cabrera Scholarship Program’ for the best university records

The Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) have launched the ‘VII Edition of the Blas Cabrera Summer Classroom Program’ for an introduction to research, teaching and scientific innovation to reward the best university academic records and promote their introduction to the field of scientific research, through a multidisciplinary approach.

The scholarships, a total of 80 aimed at university graduates in the 2022-2023 academic year (except for the final degree project, where appropriate) or who have completed said studies in the 2021-2022 academic year and that accredit an average grade equal to or greater than eight out of ten, may be requested from June 12 to 30.

Those selected will attend the Palacio de la Magdalena de Santander between August 7 and 11, 2023 for the summer courses that the UIMP develops annually in the Cantabrian capital.

Within this program, which will be directed by the Ramón y Cajal researcher from the University of Málaga Diana López Barroso, various academic activities have been planned led by university professors, especially noted for their scientific and research activity. Likewise, the participation of the students in numerous artistic and cultural activities is foreseen.

The initiative is part of the ‘Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy 2021-2027’, which has among its objectives to enhance Spain’s ability to attract, recover and retain talent.

According to the Ministry of Science, in order to achieve the initiative, generational renewal will be favoured, among other things, by promoting scientific vocations by offering opportunities for young talents. In addition, initiatives will be promoted that promote interaction between scientists and society with the aim of training new generations of scientific personnel who carry out their activity in academic environments.

To apply for aid, interested persons must submit the scholarship application form and the personal academic certificate in original electronic format issued by the corresponding university, stating all the subjects passed, exclusively online via the UIMP website. , with their credits, grades obtained and the academic year. Said certification must include the average grade of the file adapted to the standardized scale of 1 to 10.
