The 1966 classic A man called Adamdirected by Leo Penn and starring Sammy Davis Jr., Louis Armstrong i Frank Sinatra Jr among others, focuses this year on the commemoration in Girona of International Jazz Day, which will offer up to seven proposals and will last the whole week. The film will be screened this Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at Cinema Truffaut.
The week will start at Sunset this Tuesday evening, at 8 p.m., with a free concert by the Modern Music and Jazz Room of the Isaac Albéniz Music Conservatory of the Diputació de Girona and will last until Sunday, April 30, the date chosen by UNESCO since 2011 to claim and spread throughout the world the values of solidarity and diversity of this universal music.
The Girona celebration, organized by the Sunset Jazz Club, will also include a concert by the Big Band of the Conservatory of Girona (Thursday 27, 9 p.m. at Sunset), the Jazz Petits audition of the School of Music of Sant Gregori (Friday 28, 19 ha la Rambla), the performances ofEduard Gener Trio (Saturday 29, 20 has El Foment) i Jen Patton Quartet (Saturday 29, 10 p.m. at Sunset) and from Sunset Rhythm Kings which will close the week on Sunday 30, from 8 pm at Sunset.
