FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR — Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Andi Iwan Aras is concerned about the fate of Umrah pilgrims from South Sulawesi who were forced to overstay in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. This is because Citilink management refused to send the pilgrims home.

“I will report this problem to the Minister of Transportation,” explained member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Gerindra party, Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras, via text message, Sunday afternoon, September 1, 2024.

Just so you know, the travel agency that sent 300 Umrah pilgrims was disappointed with the management service of Citilink airlines. Moreover, the seats they paid specifically for Jeddah – Ujung Pandang pilgrims have been paid in full until 2025.

“We do not know the airline’s (Citilink) reason for not sending 300 Umrah pilgrims from Jeddah to Ujung Pandang (Makassar),” explained a travel representative, Amin when contacted via his cellphone.

He admitted that there was indeed a problem for the Surabaya – Jeddah route. However, this problem was associated with the Jeddah to Ujung Pandang flight route. In fact, this is something different.

“We have paid in full several billion rupiah. So, if anyone says there is a problem because the travel has not paid for the seat, that is wrong,” he said.

In fact, according to him, the payment made by the travel agency until 2025. “There is no more problem regarding seat payment. Friends have left for Jakarta to meet Citilink management,” he said.

In essence, he said, his party felt disappointed. “If there is a problem with the Surabaya – Jeddah route, do not link it to the congregation of the route, Ujung Pandang – Jeddah or vice versa. Because we have paid everything in full,” he explained.
