“We have a responsibility for the people who have fled to us,” says “Arche” founder Bernd Siggelkow. He clearly criticizes the federal government.

“Arche” founder Bernd Siggelkow is clearly critical of citizens’ money. It is “a crime against our children,” he tells “Bild”. Instead of increasing the standard rates for all recipients, the job center should take action against people who can actually work but reject a job offer several times, says the 59-year-old.

“Now the sick, the elderly, families with children and the lazy are all evaluated and classified equally,” said the pastor from Berlin. The federal government subsidizes “everything possible” and saves on what he sees as the most important thing: children.

At the end of January, the federal government agreed on a resolution according to which “total refusers”, i.e. people who reject several job offers, would have their benefits completely canceled for two months. However, economists criticized the change because the target group was actually only a very small proportion of those receiving citizens’ money. Social associations also criticized such plans.

“We have a responsibility for people”

And according to Siggelkow, the integration of refugees is also not well regulated. “As long as we cannot guarantee the necessary supply, the number of entries must decrease,” says Siggelkow. Being able to ensure the integration of refugees means “getting them into work and housing them with dignity.”

The fact that municipalities are currently failing in this regard can be seen in overcrowded collective accommodation. Siggelkow is convinced that as long as Germany cannot guarantee the necessary supplies, the number of migrants will have to fall. “We have a responsibility for the people who have fled to us,” said the Arche founder.

In 1995 Siggelkow founded “Die Arche”. Since then he has been advising parents, bringing something warm to eat on the table and listening to children. “Die Arche” now helps around 6,000 children across Germany.
