Citizen Security Observatory seeks to become a federal entity

Five years after its creation, the Citizen Security Observatory (OSC) announced that it aims to become a federal organization, while the objective is to reach the metropolitan level.

During the celebration of the OSC’s fifth anniversary, the president of the organization, Trinidad Belauzaránsaid that they are located in 800 neighborhoods in the 16 municipalities and that the current objective is to have a presence in all of them and thus consolidate themselves in Mexico City.

However, he announced that this would be a short-term objective, as growth prospects set the goal to become an organization with a federal presencefor which, he announced that the next step is to reach the metropolitan level, where they already have approaches to the area surrounding the capital and with some entities from other parts of the Republic.

“We want to expand at the federal level, We are starting with the Metropolitan Area which is the State of Mexico in Naucalpan and Huixquilucan, which are present; and we are starting in Morelos, Guerrero, Puebla, Querétaro, Yucatán and Nuevo León,” Belaunzarán explained.

The president of the Observatory said that the expansion would not only be in presence, but in connection, since another proposed goal is to regain closeness with the justice agencies that are in the demarcations, but mainly with the Office of the Attorney General of Mexico City (FGJCDMX).

By adding a link with the capital’s Attorney General’s Office, together with that of the capital’s police, they explained, they will be able to advance in the coordination work for security and justice tasks.
