The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) issued a statement on Friday (August 9) urging the nation to be wary of a “conspiracy blueprint” allegedly hatched by the deposed government and its allies.
The statement claimed to have received reliable information that the deposed regime and their henchmen are plotting revenge against the current interim government and victorious student groups. This alleged conspiracy is further fueled by social media activity, with the statement accusing democratic political forces, including the BNP itself, of responsibility for the crimes.
The statement specifically highlighted targeted attacks against citizens belonging to Hindu, Buddhist, Christian communities and religious places of worship. The authors claim the motive behind these actions is to incite communal riots and divide society.
The statement concluded by urging the interim government, administration, and citizens to be aware of the conspiracy and take action to counter it. The BNP also vowed to take organizational and legal action against those who engage in such behavior under the party’s name.
