The significant reduction in the supply of Tahiti lime has raised fruit prices in the state of São Paulo. According to a Cepea survey, the partial average for July (until the 20th) is R$ 32.61/cx, 74.85% up on June and 103.3% up on July last year, in nominal terms. The expectation is that the supply will remain restricted throughout this month, and may fall further in August. As a result, prices tend to rise more strongly. On the external front, the amounts paid by Tahiti to Brazilian producers are also on the rise. European demand is firm, due to summer on the continent, which favors demand for the fruit. At the same time, supply from Mexico, Brazil’s main competitor, is not high.
