The central leaders of Amar Bangladesh Party-AB Party have complained that the government is silent even though the city dwellers are burning in the heat and drowning in the rain. They said that not only the economy of the country is endangered by the complete failure of the dummy government, but also a terrible disaster is coming to the civil life. On the one hand, 20 districts of the country are affected by floods, on the other hand, the citizens of the divisional cities including Dhaka are burning in the heat and drowning in the rain, this is their destiny. The government is completely silent on this matter.

The leaders of the party made these allegations in a media briefing at the central office of the party in Vijay Nagar of the capital on Sunday (July 14). This media briefing was organized today in the context of the inundation of several important cities of the country including Dhaka due to the recent 3-hour rain and severe damage to urban life.

AB Party Joint Member Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad gave a briefing on the relevant issues on behalf of the party and answered various questions of the journalists. Colonel (Retd.) Didarul Alam.

Mojibur Rahman Manju said that in 2009, the ministers and state ministers of the current government said that the residents of the capital will no longer have to suffer from water. But every year people have faced severe losses even if there is little rain. In 2017, the ministers promised again that next year water drainage is being done. The two city corporations of Dhaka including Chittagong and Sylhet have spent thousands of Tk. Last year the mayor of Dhaka announced that the problem has been solved. Even if it rains all day, water will not accumulate in Dhaka. However, the people of Dhaka have faced a terrible experience in just three hours the day after yesterday.

He said that not only the country’s economy is in danger due to the complete failure of this lying government, but also a terrible disaster is coming to civil life. On the one hand, 20 districts of the country are affected by floods, on the other hand, the citizens of the divisional cities including Dhaka are burning in the heat and drowning in the rain, this is their destiny. The government is completely silent on this matter. He said to the people of the country, let all the deprived and affected people speak out against this misrule.

Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad said that on Friday, July 12, the entire Dhaka city was submerged under water after a few hours of rain. 130 mm of rain brought the entire Dhaka to a standstill. But a few days ago, two mayors of Dhaka spent about 750 crores to drain the water. People want to know where this money went? We have seen in various media that the businessmen of Dhaka have suffered a loss of hundreds of crores of rupees due to this rain. Especially New Market, Old Dhaka, Mirpur, Segunbagicha and most of the traders’ godowns in Dhaka have lost their stock.

He said, we have also seen in Chittagong City Corporation about 1.3 billion US dollars spent on water drainage. But when it rained, it was seen that the mayor himself could not leave the house because of the water. The reality is that no water drainage, sewage or waste management system has been developed in the country. The sole purpose of this occupying government is to loot the allotted money.

He said to the people that we ourselves should be aware of the environment. In particular, plastic and polybags should be stopped everywhere. In 1995, the environmental conservation IK law banning the production, sale and use of polythene bags has not yet been implemented. Instead, polythene has been sold everywhere. Proper implementation of this law would have increased the proper use of jute in the country and also saved the environment from this disastrous situation.
