Baku City Festival of Folk Theaters took placeorganized by the Main Department of Culture of the city of Baku and dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the prominent playwright, poet and prose writer, theater critic, film critic, director, Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR Jafar Jabbarli, reports Day.Az.
The main goal of the festival is to promote and develop folk art, improve the activities of folk theaters, amateur groups, drama clubs operating in cultural institutions, and attract the younger generation to amateur theater groups.
20 folk theaters took part in the festival. The performances presented at the Cultural Center of the village of Shagan and the Palace of Culture of the village of Mardakan were evaluated by members of the jury, which included People’s Artist Hamida Omarova, Honored Artist Ali Amirli, and director Bahram Osmanov. The closing ceremony of the festival and awarding of the groups will be held on October 26 at the Mardakan Palace of Culture.
