City mourning in Mondragone for the death of Raffaele Conte, who died in an accident at work in Malta. Mayor Virgilio Pacifico announced it, “as a sign of profound respect and participation in the tragic event that the City of Mondragone is experiencing in these days”. The body of Raffaele Conte will return to his homeland on June 18, when the funeral will also be celebrated at 10 in the morning, at the Minor Basilica of Santa Maria Incaldana in Mondragone.
On the occasion of city mourning, the ban “on all recreational and recreational activities and any other behavior that conflicts with the mournful character of the ceremony or with the urban decorum”, reads the ordinance ordered by the mayor of Mondragone, who also to exhibit for the whole day of the funeral the flags at half mast in municipal offices. The mayor also invited “fellow citizens, business owners, political, social and productive organizations and sports associations, to express their participation in city mourning by suspending activities, as a sign of recollection and respect during funerals. “.
According to what has been reconstructed so far, Raffaele Conte would have fallen from the roof of the factory under construction in Malta, where he was. It seems he had suddenly lost his balance, falling into the void from the fourth floor: the impact with the ground left him no way out, and despite the arrival of help, Raffaele was practically dead on the spot. An investigation was also opened to verify the safety conditions of the construction site where the man was working with a seasonal contract.
