Speaking at the 29th extraordinary session of the General Assembly (GA) of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO), Mr. Kayouh judged that close cooperation with brotherly countries and international organizations, supported by innovative policies, would improve air connectivity in the Arab world and strengthen the competitiveness of Arab airports and airlines on a global scale.
Thus, the minister noted that support for joint cooperation between Arab countries in the field of civil aviation constitutes an essential foundation for accelerating the transport of passengers and goods, thus promoting trade, tourism and cultural exchanges. , while contributing to the economic and social development of the region.
Furthermore, he praised the continued efforts of ACAO Member States, which, through permanent cooperation and coordination as well as joint work with the organization and its bodies, are working towards the development of the tourism sector. aviation and strengthening its competitiveness.
In this wake, Mr. Kayouh noted that the Kingdom of Morocco, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, attaches great importance to the strengthening of air connectivity, relying on a vision based on the liberalization of markets, encouraging investment and promoting fair competition between airlines.
These efforts, he continued, have had a positive impact on the sector, leading to sustained growth in passenger traffic, a trend which is expected to continue, particularly with the hosting in the Kingdom of several major events, particularly sporting events. .
This session of the ACAO General Assembly was devoted to examining the extension of the mandate of the current director for a third term and the expansion of the executive council to 11 members, with the integration of Tunisia and the Yemen.
Since its creation in 1996, the Arab Civil Aviation Organization has worked to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the civil aviation authorities of the Member States through its governance bodies, technical committees and general secretariat.
Thus, ACAO has signed memorandums of understanding with regional organizations in Africa, Europe, Latin America, as well as with several countries around the world, which has enabled it to contribute to capacity building and offer technical support to international civil aviation.
In addition, priorities have been defined and joint action plans have been developed with regional offices of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and similar regional organizations, focusing on strengthening air transport, its safety and security, on increasing the reception capacity and the efficiency of air navigation, as well as on the protection of the aeronautical environment.
