Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (QUAB) General Secretary Debbrat Pal complained that the prize money for the 2023 World Cup has not been received by the cricketers yet. He thinks that it is the responsibility of the board to explain within 15 days.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has clarified its position in a press release on Tuesday (August 13). The board said the allegation is baseless and undermines the transparency and integrity of BCB’s operations.

According to the board, they have not received this money till now. The ICC and host country India are trying to remit the money to the countries concerned. BCB also said in the notification that it could come in a few weeks.

In a statement, BCB said, ‘The ICC Cricket World Cup for men has ended in November 2023. BCB promptly submitted the necessary invoices to ICC. However, the disbursement process is getting delayed due to tax formalities and related issues.’

‘These are administrative hurdles that not only BCB but other participating countries have to face. To speed up the process BCB has hired a renowned international accounting firm (Deloitte Haskins & Sales LLP) in India to process the applications of all the Bangladeshi players participating in the World Cup.’

“The BCB strongly rejects the false comments made by the concerned councilor and strongly protest against the board and its officials in this regard. Such allegations are baseless and undermine the integrity and transparency of BCB’s operations.’
