-In the mobile business, what strategies do you have to avoid losing market share?
We are a comprehensive company telecommunicationswe aim for leadership in every category. We are the largest telecommunications company that has invested in the country for a long time. According to Osiptel, we invested close to 36% of the total invested by the industry last year. In addition, it is a consistent attitude, so that the market follows us and you see that you offer good quality all the time. What are we going to do? Same thing, stay committed. It’s a very simple equation: you invest, you improve your quality, your coverage, your technology and the results show in portability, which we’ve been leading in so far this year.

-What are your plans for your prepaid customers to be postpaid?
We see natural migration. We don’t force it, because being prepaid is not a matter of means – how much one wants or doesn’t want to pay – but rather control, how much I want and how much I want to control things. In Peru, half of our clients are prepaid and the other half are postpaid.
-According to Osiptel, they had 12.6 million lines in the first quarter. Are you expecting the 12.8 million achieved in 2018?
If what I say continues to work up to this point, that should increase.

-In July they announced the launch of fiber optic Internet speeds of up to 5 GB. Are you targeting the business sector?
It is for him residential segment. The business sector can benefit from it. We are covering about 4.2 million homes in the country at full capacity. We have the infrastructure so that our clients have a good experience and new technologies. Now it is time not only to submit it, but to wait for the evolution of the market to assimilate the level of speed available in our network infrastructure. We are going to increase technology in different areas to the extent that they can assimilate it. It is no longer a question of investment, but more of demand.
-Which areas will they start in?
Probably San Isidro, Miraflores, Las Casuarinas and around there also Surco and La Molina. That is defined by the client.
-In March, Claro told Día 1 that they expected to end the year with 5.2 million customers. Will this continue?
Yes, last year alone we made more than a million additional houses covered with fiber optic and this year we invested at the same level, so the coverage should come, if the construction capacity and requirements . [lo permiten].
“The TV industry is down, but we’re growing”
-How is the demand for family packages?
The telephone [fija] It is going away, we have to include in practice so that [las personas] you have a backup. he Internet It is the tip of the spear and television is growing gradually, especially from the new concept Claro TV+.
-How much has Claro TV+ strengthened its television business?
What has happened in the market over the last eight quarters is that the TV industry is shrinking and we are growing. This is due to the same formula: investment and new technologies. We have redesigned the TV, mixing streaming with traditional TV, adapting to the usage trends of the new generations. The truth is that it is working quite well for us. At the Latin American level we are the largest pay TV operator. In Peru we started later, but we continue to grow even though the other relevant operators do not.
A very good example is what happened with the Olympic Games. [Paris 2024]: We have our own channel available on Claro TV+, in the OTT applications on Claro Video, but we have also uploaded them to YouTube. That took a turn and Claro has positioned itself in the television field in a strong way.
-Is there any news regarding 5G?
We were assigned the Chancay Port 5G network. There was a competition and we worked hard to implement the network that will automate all the operations of the cranes and autonomous vehicles that will work in the port.
-What stage of the process are they in?
The network is already installed, as the port opens in November. The first tests were carried out with the cranes. We are working hand in hand with the people from Cosco Shipping and Huawei to use all the technology.
“The client needs you to serve them and we are the ones who invest the most”
-You mentioned that you are a comprehensive company, how are the services in the corporate segment going?
What is happening with the operators telecommunicationsas is our case too, which is no longer required by one client cloud services or someone who gives them connectivity or gives them security, but that’s all well integrated. Cloud services and cyber security have more than doubled. The industry grew by about 22% and we have more than doubled [esta operación]we are taking an important role in this segment.
-Are there sectors that require a more comprehensive service?
We have one of the largest monitoring centers cyber security for large companies, but we have more basic cyber security services in the medium and small business segment. These services are packaged through Claro Negocios, which is growing. So it is much more accessible, in terms of prices and ease. [Claro Negocios] It is the most growing now.

-We are in times where there is more artificial intelligence (AI) in technological processes. Are you clear how you are implementing this?
The IA It’s had stages of evolution and analytics, advancement, predictive, chatbots, that kind of thing. We have been doing it for the last five years, from the most basic stages of AI and what is the last part, which is generative AI. We are investigating, in which parts it can make sense to reduce costs or improve our competitiveness at a reasonable price, because that is still a bit expensive for the benefits it generates.
We are cautious, but we are reviewing what the other options are.

-How much do you expect to close in investments?
Investments have been homogeneous over the past three years, around US$360 million, which is really a bit different. It’s not just about the budget, but what can actually be accomplished.
-Will they maintain these levels by 2025?
Yes, it is the recipe. It is reinvested to achieve more coverage and capacity, new technologies and – an important thing I didn’t mention – better customer service. We are also the ones investing the most in the latter.
-How much do you hope to close in billing this year?
We are the operator with the highest turnover in the country, which gives us more capital to continue investing. Not only do we invoice more, but we are more efficient and generate better returns, which gives us more capacity to continue investing.
