Colombo: Massive protests near the residence of Sri Lankan President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa near his residence in the capital, demanding his resignation. The protesters clashed with police. The Special Task Force (STF), a paramilitary force, was reportedly deployed to quell the protest. The protest was reported to have continued late into the night.
As the crisis intensified, people took to the streets near the president’s official residence yesterday evening to protest. It is alleged that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was not at his official residence at the time.
