Clash in Kalamasery Youth Congress – KSU march, complaint to Speaker Shafi Parampil

Kochi: Youth Congress and KSU activists lathi-charged the march held in Kalamassery against the police suppression of the protest against the Chief Minister. Eight activists and four policemen were injured in the clash. The activists besieged the Kalamassery police station, alleging that the police assaulted the MLAs who had come to visit the arrested.

Water cannons were continuously fired at the protesters. When they did not leave, lathicharge was carried out. Those who ran into shops and other places were chased and beaten. One of the activists was hit on the head and the other was injured. The police arrested and removed the injured. A protest broke out in front of the police station when Shafi Parampil MLA, who came to the police station to meet the arrested activists, was stopped by the police.

As the strike began, Congress MLAs and MPs from the district reached the station in support. With this, the police relaxed. The blockade was ended after the ACP assured that action would be taken against the guilty policemen and action was taken based on the complaint by the assembly speaker. The arrested activists were released by the police. The injured are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the district.
