Clash over works on the sea «Construction site in the middle of summer» – Pescara

This is the opinion of the opposition in the city council after the announcement by the councilor for state property Anthony Aliano that, by the end of June, the second lot of the restyling project of the Jova Beach Party area will start. After the first intervention, carried out in summer 2020 which saw the raising of the carriageway in the stretch of promenade between via Marinelli and via Torrente Piomba and the elimination of the hedges on the border between the sidewalk and the beach, now the municipal administration is she says ready to continue with the project that will change the face of that area.
An idea that, however, does not seem to meet the favorable opinion of the Democratic Party and the 5 Star Movement. In fact, the minority disputes not only the project itself, but above all the times chosen by the municipal administration for the implementation of the interventions, right in the middle of the summer season. “If the assessor’s announcements are also followed by the actions”, comments the councilor of the M5S with skepticism Paola Ballarini, «Then I feel I can reject without any doubt the idea of ​​starting work right in the middle of the tourist season. I believe that in no tourist city in the world it happens to see construction sites in action precisely in the most strategic and popular periods and places. After all, improvisation is the result of a lack of planning, even in terms of budget. And if it is true that the terms for approval have been postponed at the national level, it is equally true that a forward-looking administration should have approved it as soon as possible to avoid always thinking in twelfths, especially before the summer ». As for the project itself, the pentastellata says it is certain that the interventions on the pine forest side will never be carried out because the Municipality will certainly not get the green light from the Forestry to remove the hedge and the wall, while on the kiosks “it seems madness”, he attacks Ballarini, «think of creating new structures when our city is full of vacant premises».
On the same wavelength, especially with regard to the timing of the work, also the councilor of the Democratic Party, Romina Di Costanzo: «The junta proves to be a repeat offender», he comments, «just like last year, despite the months of lockdown available, residents and tourists will have been forced to deal with a construction site in the summer. If we add to this that, given the nature of the intervention, also aimed at restoring a windbreak plant barrier, it would have been decidedly more useful in winter, then it is even more evident that there was an error in the timing ». Then there is another aspect that Di Costanzo highlights: “I wonder, since it is a beach, if all the necessary authorizations have been obtained from the authorities in charge”.
