Educational panorama in Misiones

In Misiones, the educational community is made up of around 398,000 students distributed in 2,879 educational establishments. These include educational offers that range from the Initial Level to Non-University Higher Education, covering various modalities of the educational system.

Of the establishments mentioned, 2,626 are state-run and 253 are privately run. This demonstrates the diversity and breadth of the educational system in the province.

National teacher strike: A challenge for the start of the school year

The teaching unions grouped in the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) have called for a national strike for the same day that classes begin in Misiones. This measure arises due to the lack of agreement with the national government on salary matters and in defense of the continuity of the National Teacher Incentive Fund (FONID).

Union leaders expressed their dissatisfaction with the Government’s position after a meeting at the Ministry of Labor, where no salary proposals were presented and the elimination of the FONID was confirmed. This situation has led to negotiations being suspended until next week.

The sayings of the Minister of Education

Ramiro Aranda

Despite the uncertain outlook, the Minister of Education of Misiones, Ramiro Aranda, expressed his desire for schools to be open and prepared to receive students. In a recent statement, Aranda said:

«As we had been anticipating, we are strengthening the conditions to be able to start. Now we are with some furniture deliveries, school repairs. We are also delivering supplies.”stated the minister, highlighting the effort made to guarantee a safe return to the classrooms.

The Minister stressed the importance of family responsibility in this process of returning to the classroom. In his words:

“It is the responsibility of each family to be able to start this start of school in the healthiest way, because it has to do with the comprehensive health of our children”he added.

Initiatives to support families at the beginning of the school year

The Government of Misiones has implemented several measures to support families at the beginning of classes. Among them, the “ Ahora Textos ” program stands out, which offers financing in interest-free installments for the purchase of books and school supplies. This initiative seeks to alleviate the economic burden of families in a context of financial difficulties at the national level.

Prices of school supplies and their impact on families

An additional concern for families at the beginning of the school year is the prices of school supplies, which can represent a significant burden. According to surveys carried out in local bookstores, a basic list of supplies can start at $20,000, while a backpack can cost around $80,000. These costs added to other school needs can represent a financial challenge for many families.
