During the ceremony for the Bicentennial of the Federation of Chiapas to Mexico, at the Palenque station of the Mayan Train, the national leader indicated that he is retiring from political life because “he can no longer force his heart.”

The head of the Executive stated: “The bodywork no longer works well, the engine works well, I have a problem, because I had a heart attack, and I can no longer force my poor heart that has helped me a lot.”
He said that on October 1st he will hand over the presidential sash “to a well-prepared, honest woman with good feelings and a good heart. It is no longer about lightening the load, now I am going to pass the burden on to you, soon, very soon she will become the best president in the world.”
He said that after leaving the Presidency he will live in Palenque, “and I want us to make an agreement: ‘No more Andrés Manuel, I want to talk to you because I have a matter’, I will not be able to deal with it anymore, because if I open the door, I will have to open it to millions of Mexicans.”
He said he will compensate for the slowdown in his public activities with “an intellectual activity, I want to write about the deep, pre-Hispanic Mexico because there was so much subjugation, racism and also to hell with the complexes, our people are some of the hardest workers in the world.”

In the framework of the celebration of Mexico’s independence, the President considered that it has “cost Mexico a lot to be respected by foreign powers, Spain imposed itself for three centuries, France invaded us twice, the United States twice, and one of those invasions meant that half of our territory was taken from us.”
For her part, President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted that Chiapas was one of the states that endorsed the judicial reform and indicated that in the coming days the constitutional changes for the recognition of indigenous peoples will be voted on.
