The heating system in the city is renewing and expanding its gas capacities
At any moment, the construction of the infrastructure will begin, where the two gas cogenerators that arrived at the Vratsa Heating site will be installed.
The company stated that most of the administrative procedure has already been completed and after the upcoming selection of companies, construction will begin. This gives hope that in 2025 the residents of Vrachani will have an even better quality service.
The two gas engines are manufactured by one of the world leaders – the Finnish Wärtsilä and have a capacity of 4.5 and 3.9 megawatts. They will produce a total of 8.4 MW of electricity and 7.91 MW of thermal energy. It is the implementation of combined production that is one of the European priorities for achieving high efficiency.
“In energy, nothing happens overnight. We operate with natural gas as our main fuel and meet the requirements for clean production. The two gas engines have been on our site for over a year. It will probably take another 6 months until they are put into operation. Our desire is to offer a better service to our subscribers this season.
It is very important, when talking about the transformation of the Bulgarian energy industry, that these terms are clear to the people. Our goal is to offer a better service to residents. Colleagues in other energy companies that have gone down this path to replace coal are working under even greater stress, because there the question is not just to offer a better quality service, but to maintain it at all. From the planning to the implementation of each power, years pass,” said the executive director, Eng. Radoslav Mihailov:
The investment is part of the modernization program of “Vratsa Heating”. Although the company celebrated its 55th anniversary last year, proper operation and renovation of the facilities will allow it to offer many years of excellent service to its subscribers.
“Given the approaching deadlines of the green European deal for the transition to clean energy, every stored and every new megawatt of energy is becoming more and more important to maintain the energy balance and energy security of our country. “Vratsa Heating”, using natural gas, accepted as a reasonable transitional fuel, is a small but important part of our national mix. Although solar heating has been talked about for years, at this stage heating is the cleanest and most affordable way to heat during the winter months,” said Eng. Radoslav Mihailov.
