Latvia will send the smallest delegation to the Summer Olympics since the restoration of independence to Paris this month, which will be represented by 29 athletes in 14 disciplines in the French capital. “Everyone who goes to the Olympic Games deserves to be there. Sport is compelling precisely because it is sometimes unpredictable, and the numerical composition of the delegation does not always allow predicting the final result,” the newly elected president of the Latvian Olympic Committee (LOK) Raimonds Lazdiņš stated that the success of each athlete must be evaluated separately. The Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11.

The Latvian team will have a dozen Olympic debutants, but the most experienced Olympian will be Līna Mūze-Sirmā, who has qualified for the Games for the fourth time.
