Cleveland Browns Consider Joe Flacco After Losing Starting Quarterback

After losing their starting quarterback Deshaun Watson to a season-ending shoulder injury, the Cleveland Browns are in a scramble to find a replacement. Rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson is set to start this weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the team is also considering veteran options.

Joe Flacco, a seasoned quarterback who has previously played for the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, and New York Jets, worked out for the Browns on Friday. While he left without a deal, reports suggest that he remains a prime target for the team and could potentially be added to the active roster or practice squad by next week.

Flacco, who spent 11 years in Baltimore and won a Super Bowl, has had stints in Denver and New York. He started four games in 2022 and completed just 57.6% of his passes, with five touchdowns against three interceptions. The 38-year-old has been out of the league throughout this season.

In addition to Flacco, it is not yet known which other quarterbacks the Browns might consider. With P.J. Walker in the mix, the team also has the option of relying on Thompson-Robinson, as they did when Watson missed games earlier in the season.

It remains to be seen how the Browns will navigate their quarterback situation in the coming weeks, but it is clear that they are exploring all available options as they adapt to the sudden loss of Watson.
